Kyra Kyles taking JET MAGAZINE to the Next Level

written: by jim allen

Jet Magazine was founded in 1951 by John H. Johnson of Johnson Publishing Company in Chicago, Illinois. Initially the magazine was called "The Weekly Negro News Magazine" that chronicled the Civil Rights Movement including the murder and funeral of Emmet Till, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, and the works of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Jet Magazine is more then a news magazine, its an American institution of higher learning. Jet Magazine spoke the stories of a people who had no voice. Jet Magazine gave pride to a people who didn't see themselves in magazines cast in a positive light. Jet Magazine with the honorable late John H. Johnson at the helm fought thwarts racism relative to receiving Advertising Contracts - Mr. Johnson would hop on one plane after another during the struggles of Jim Crow waiting hours to speak with CEO's in the 1950's, 60's and 70's concerning the importance of them advertising in a News Magazine that spoke directly to the heart of every stratosphere in Black America (Rich, Middle Class, and Poor).

We fast forward to 2011 and Jet Magazine has added a fresh, exciting Senior Editor in the person of Kyra Kyles to the addition of Senior Editors they presently have. Kyra Kyles is one of the Senior Editors at Jet Magazine who brings a much needed youthfulness yet mature guidance to Jet Magazine... what can I say? The girl is BAD in a GOOD way! Check her bio:
